Club History
The Thornlie Senior Football club was formed in 1970. Over the last 45 years the Thornlie Senior Football Club has achieved 4 League Premierships, 6 Reserves premierships, 4 Colts Premierships and 3 E Grade (formally WAFA) premierships. Along with these successes we have also been involved in a further (11) grand final appearances in various grades in the Sunday Football League. Thornlie Football Club is located at Berehaven Oval Thornlie we have three senior teams playing in the West Australian Amateur Football Association, B Grade League, B Grade Reserves, and B Grade Colts. The coaches for the 2017 season are Daniel Kerr (league), no one appointed as yet (reserves) and Daryl Smith (colts).
We currently have approximately 90 playing members along with 20 support staff including coaches, managers and trainers.
We have great support from our club sponsors, a number who have been associated with the club for many years now, and without their ongoing support, it would be very difficult to put our sides out each week.
Our football matches are watches by anywhere between 200 to 400 people each week.
Our brand is important to the future of our club. Through our current coaching group we intend to rejuvenate the Thornlie Senior Football Club. We want the club to remain as a strong, viable Football Club that continues to preserve our core values of Integrity, Passion & Community and we aim to progress through the WAAFL ranks and secure ourselves as an A grade football club.
Player development and retention will remain a major focus. We intend to improve our mentoring program to advance and support the general player group. Our mentoring program will also be invaluable in transitioning players from our Junior Football program to Senior Football level.
We have enlisted the services of some past senior players to implement a “Past Players Association” which will further encourage retired players and support staff to remain involved with the club, ensuring the club retains these valuable assets, and acknowledges the Club’s valued history and traditions.
